| Food Poisoning Lawsuits Learning From the Mistakes of Others - Food Poisoning Lawsuits Sanitation, Safety and Regulatory Issues in Foodborne Illness Lawsuits. (Webinar length: 1h 4m) Overview Foodborne illness lawsuits provide a unique perspective on the pathways for infection through food. The legal proceedings that arise from these events are the distillers of critical epidemiolgical data and testimony. The findings often point to causation on several levels including the epidemiological level. We can learn from these events important information about how to move forward with food safety and how to prevent being involved in such lawsuits. The food industry has become painfully aware of its vulnerability to outbreaks of disease and their consequences. Protecting an operation from contamination requires a scientific approach. This presentation will rely on sanitation deficiencies found in actual outbreak litigation, proviides a discussion of causation, and suggests improvemets to be made in food safety management systems. Learning Objectives: The most typical sanitation deficiencies found in foodborne illness law suits How legal experts develop causation based on public health inspection findings The role of epidemiology in causation and guiding the analysis of sanitation findings How prevention efforts can be improved Who will benefit: Quality Assurance Managers Production Managers Laboratory Managers Food Safety Personnel HACCP Coordinators Government Food Inspectors Sanitation Managers Corporate and Plant Microbiologists Processing Engineers Operations Supervisors and Managers Presenter--Roy E.
