| Internal Auditing Basics for GFSI Food Safety Schemes (Webinar length: 1h 27m) Overview An effective audit system is essential to a company's food safety and product quality. It provides confirmation that systems and procedures are operating effectively and identifies areas that require improvement. Auditing is a key component of any continuous improvement program, especially in the areas of food safety and HACCP. It is the "check" component of the now famous Edward Deming "Plan-Do-Check-Act" or PDCA continuous improvement concept. Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification has become a common market requirement for the food industry as a tool for assuring food safety and regulatory compliance. It is now a frequent customer requirement for many agricultural producers, produce packers, and food and dairy processors. If your company is pursuing certification against one of the GFSI audit schemes, such as BRC, SQF, FSSC, or PrimusGFS, an internal audit system must be in place. Several of these GFSI schemes mandate that personnel receive formal training in internal auditor concepts, and how to conduct audits of the company's food safety management system. During this webinar, we will introduce key concepts of food safety internal auditing and highlight critical learning topics for new auditors. Learning will be reinforced with interactive audit exercises. To benefit most fully from this webinar, it is suggested that interested participants have completed previous training in, or have a working knowledge of, food safety prerequisite programs and HACCP. Learning Objectives: 1. Review the role of food safety standards, such as Codex, NACMCF HACCP, & GFSI 2. Understand the GFSI guideline and approval process of audit schemes. 3. Understand how to prepare and conduct internal audits. 4. Learn how to gather objective evidence and analyze audit findings to evaluate compliance. 5. Learn how to arrange audit follow-up and to review corrective actions for effectiveness.
