| Your Food Safety Recall Plan Will Not Save You (Webinar length: 1hr 25min) Overview: With a vastly improved national network of food safety surveillance capabilities, an increasing number of problems associated with food products (from pathogens to allergens) are being identified, and more products are being recalled. For this reason, if you process or sell food products, the question is not whether your company will someday be forced to issue an expansive recall, the real question is when. And, when that happens, simply having a recall plan is not enough. The only way to ensure the survival of your company when a true crisis occurs is to have a world-class crisis management plan in place. The plan should be designed to outline the specific steps you will take in conjunction with any recall to effectively limit and contain your regulatory and litigation exposure. In this program, you will learn about the essential elements of effective crisis management planning, and be able to develop your own world-class plan. Learning objectives: To effectively anticipate and handle recall questions from consumers and customers To expertly manage media relations and communications to better protect your brand To identify potential insurance coverage issues and protect against the denial of claims To appropriately handle third-party consumer and commercial claims or threatened litigation To coordinate internal communications to protect what you say from discovery or disclosure To understand and also respond to evidentiary issues associated with recalled product To immunize itself to the greatest extent possible from regulatory and litigation exposure Who should attend: QA and QC Managers Production Managers Food Scientists and Technologists Food Safety Personnel HACCP Coordinators Government food inspectors Microbiologists and Food Processing Engineers Food attorneys Presenter – Shawn Stevens, Attorney Mr. Stevens is one of the only lawyers in America who devotes his entire practice to representing the food industry. For more than a decade, he has worked with food industry clients (including the world’s largest food processors, national restaurant chains, and food distributors and grocers) helping them protect their brand by proactively reducing their food safety exposure, complying with complex food safety regulations, coordinating recall efforts, and defending high-profile foodborne illness claims. In addition to his legal consulting practice, he also serves as the only Food Safety and Food Quality mediator in the nation, helping parties who have food safety or quality disagreements (whether in advance of or during litigation) resolve their disputes. Mr. Stevens authors dedicated food safety columns for the National Provisioner, Food Safety Tech, and Food Quality Magazine.
